A Message from the Director…

As I near the completion of my twenty-first year with the YMCA of the USA, I am often reminded of why I chose this path…our organization’s mission which is “To put Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind, and body for all.”  The last two words, to me, are the most important “for all”.Dan Yonko, Branch Director

I am proud of the volunteers and staff who have worked so hard to improve the number of services offered to our community.  In 2007, over $130,000 was awarded to children, adults, and families who were in need of the YMCA in their lives.  Whether their need was child care, middle school, camp, membership, youth sports, or our YMCA READS! program, the YMCA was there to insure that no one was denied service because they could not afford the full fees.

As the community need grows, we hope to grow our ability to meet this need.  You can help in making a difference by making a donation towards our Community Scholarship Campaign goal of $35,000, becoming a YMCA member, volunteering to be a caring adult in one of our many programs, or serving on our branch board.

The South Branch has made some much-needed improvements to the grounds and more changes are on the way!  In 2008, we are looking to add more quality programs in health and fitness, aquatics, and enhance our child care and middle school programs as well.  We are always looking for new ways to build strong kids, strong families, and strong communities.

Please feel free to contact me with your comments, questions, or suggestions. Make your day a
super-fantastic one!
