YMCA Reads is a literacy intervention program for K-3 grade at-risk students in Title I schools. The funding comes from a partnership between the Florida Department of Education and the Florida Alliance of YMCAs. Our literacy program is based on a structured curriculum (Systematic Instruction in Phonetic Awareness, Phonics, and Sight Words) which is easily learned by volunteers. The Y Reads program has operated successfully at Bayshore Elementary School on 26th Street West in Bradenton for ten years.
For more information contact Dr. Moira Hendricks, Director of Y Reads, at (941) 798-9622 #408 or by email at email@example.com.
